Sumaiya Jannat is a lively 4-year-old girl who loves drawing and dreams of becoming a teacher, bringing joy and hope to her family of seven. Her father, Josim Uddin, works as an auto driver earning only 6,000 taka per month, and with her mother, grandparents, and siblings to support, the family cannot afford the cost of her urgent medical treatment. Sumaiya has been suffering from a painful left-sided inguinal hernia, which makes sitting, walking, and playing difficult, affecting her daily life and childhood routine. Without a herniotomy, the hernia could worsen, leading to severe pain, obstruction, or even life-threatening complications. Desperate to save their daughter, the family, who learned about Helpster Charity through a free medical camp, is seeking urgent support to restore Sumaiya’s health and allow her to enjoy a normal, active childhood.

Sumaiya Jannat was admitted to the hospital on 15 April 2026 with a diagnosis of left-sided congenital inguinal hernia, and considering her condition, a herniotomy was performed on the same day, which was successful and without complications. After the operation, she received proper postoperative care, including medical management, pain control, regular monitoring, and attentive nursing support to ensure a smooth recovery. Over the following days, her condition improved steadily, with reduced pain and no signs of infection or complications, allowing her to regain strength and stability. As her recovery was satisfactory and her condition remained secure, she was safely discharged on 18 April 2026 in a well and stable condition, with a positive outlook for full recovery.

The doctor advised them to perform a herniotomy under general anesthesia (G/A). If the herniotomy is not performed, it can lead to tissue death and it will make her unable to attend school due to the swelling and will restrict her daily activities. However, if the herniotomy is performed, the patient will be able to resume regular activities, attend school, and it will be a great help for her to improve her lifestyle.
