Sume Akter is a kind, hardworking housewife who spends her time caring for her family and sewing katha, hoping only for a safe pregnancy and a healthy child. Her husband, Khalekujjaman Liton, works as a day laborer farmer on others’ land, earning just 6,000 Taka a month, which is barely enough to feed their four family members, including their elderly mother, Khaleda Begum.
