Furaira U., 18

Furaira is an 18-year-old young woman known for her friendly and sociable nature. She helps her mother with household chores and enjoys sewing and reading in her free time. Despite financial constraints, Maryam dreams of becoming a community health worker so she can educate and support women in her community. Furaira,was apparently well,until 2 weeks ago when she noticed a swelling in the right side of her vulva, which gradually increased in size and became tender. She reported feeling a moderate pain, especially when sitting or walking, and occasional redness at the site. There was no fever or systemic illness. On evaluation at the hospital, and after further clinical evaluation, the swelling was confirmed as a right Bartholin cyst, and surgical intervention (marsupialization or excision) was planned to relieve the cyst and prevent infection, pending approval from the Helpster Charity Foundation.

FURAIRA UMAR, an 18-year-old teenager, presented with a history of swelling in the right side of her vulva,which increased in size and became tender accompanied by severe pain especially when sitting or walking since 2 weeks. After thorough evaluation and investigation, she was diagnosed with Bartholin cyst.She underwent successful surgery without immediate complications. Due to the nature of her condition, she was admitted for 3 days for close monitoring and post-operative care.She recovered well and was discharged home after 3 days, with a follow-up appointment scheduled for 1 week. Currently, she is doing well, she has fully recovered, and has resumed her regular activities. We appreciate the timely intervention by Helpster and the UMD Medical team.

Furaira's vulvar swelling and persistent pain haven't responded to antibiotics and painkillers. Surgery to drain or remove the cyst is likely her best option to alleviate symptoms and significantly improve her health and also educate her on the importance of good personal hygiene.
