Why is treatment done earlier than admission?
Sometimes, when a case is urgent and vital, hospitals may proceed with delivering medical care right away to save a life, even before the finalization of admission procedures. Usually, when this happens, hospitals put the bill on our credit until the funds are transferred to their accounts.
That's why the chronology can sometimes be in disorder.

Background
Muhammad Umar is a 16-month-old boy living with his parents in a relative’s home, where they have been given a room to stay until they become more financially stable. His father occasionally works as a farmer in their village. Muhammad is the youngest of four children in the family. Though he has not yet started school or speaking much, which is typical for his age, he is active, helpful around the house, and enjoys playing, especially football like many other boys. His parents are deeply concerned about his health condition, particularly how it may impact his development and self-esteem in the future. This information highlights the need for continued medical support and social assistance to improve his quality of life and family wellbeing. Umar was born with a swelling in-between his nose. When he was born the w Swelling was visible and as he kept growing it is increasing in size covering a large portion of his nose. It is currently extending into his left eye. A fee months after he was born he was taken to the hospital and had to run series of investigations. When he was done with the listed investigations the attending doctor referred him to see a neurosurgeon. The doctor reviewed and set them for surgery but they lack the finances to proceed with it so we admitted them into Helpster Charity program. After evaluation, he was diagnosed with Frontonasal Encephalocele and requires surgical treatment.
Medical history
Umar Muhammed, 17 months old, was born with a frontoethmoidal encephalocele and was admitted on June 24th, 2026 for specialized care. On June 29th he had surgery through bicoronal and facial approaches to remove the encephalocele, repair the skull base defect, and perform a duroplasty, and he tolerated the procedure very well. His postoperative course was smooth, with careful monitoring for infection and CSF leakage while his neurological status and wound healing were checked daily. By July 8th, 2026, Umar was discharged in stable condition with healing surgical sites, normal vital signs, and satisfactory feeding. He will now continue recovery at the Neurosurgical Outpatient Clinic with regular follow-ups, clean wound care, prescribed medications, and close watching for any signs of infection or changes in behavior.
Outcome
With timely and careful surgery, Muhammad is expected to have a good functional outcome and normal development. Long-term care will focus on monitoring his skull and facial growth, ensuring healthy nasal passages, and continuing developmental support. Possible risks include leaks of cerebrospinal fluid, infection, and cosmetic issues which can be managed with proper follow-up care.
