Why is treatment done earlier than admission?

Sometimes, when a case is urgent and vital, hospitals may proceed with delivering medical care right away to save a life, even before the finalization of admission procedures. Usually, when this happens, hospitals put the bill on our credit until the funds are transferred to their accounts.
That's why the chronology can sometimes be in disorder.

Siaya County Referral Hospital

Along siaya- Rangala road

Background

Kingsley is the second-born child in his family and lives with his three siblings, his mother, and his grandmother in a two-roomed mud house. His father passed away, leaving his mother to raise the children. However, Kingsley's mother is currently unable to work as she is caring for a three-month-old baby. As a result, Kingsley’s grandmother is the only provider for the household. She depends on cultivating a small piece of land to support her daughter and grandchildren. When healthy, Kingsley enjoys playing and sharing stories with his grandmother. According to his grandmother, Kingsley had been well until he developed a cough accompanied by episodes of vomiting. Thinking it might be malaria, she gave him over-the-counter medication, but his condition did not improve. Soon after, he began having diarrhea and started passing blood in his stool. It was at this point that his grandmother realized the illness was serious and took him to Siaya Referral Hospital for medical attention. At the hospital, the grandmother explained that her grandchild was seriously ill but that she had no money to pay for treatment. She pleaded for help despite her financial situation. After Kingsley was stabilized, the medical team linked his grandmother to Helpster Charity. He was diagnosed with severe malaria, severe pneumonia, severe anaemia and severe acute malnutrition.

Medical history

Kingsley was brought to the hospital with complaints of coughing, difficulty in breathing and had episodes of diarrhoea for three days. He was diagnosed with severe acute malnutrition, severe malaria. He was promptly admitted and while in the ward he was administered, fluconadole, ceftriaxone, topical silver sulphadiazine, AL, IV xpen among other drugs. He responded well to medication and he was duly discharged on orals like multivitamin syrup among other drugs through the nutrition clinic. The mother later confirmed Kingsley was fully recovered had gained weight and was playing

Outcome

Kingsley’s condition was very serious at the time of diagnosis, as severe malaria, severe acute malnutrition, severe pneumonia, and severe anaemia are all life-threatening illnesses, especially when they occur together in a young child. However, with timely hospitalization, appropriate antimalarial treatment, antibiotics, nutritional rehabilitation, and management of anaemia, his prognosis is guardedly good. With close medical monitoring, adequate nutrition, and continued follow-up care, Kingsley is expected to gradually regain strength, recover from the infections, and improve his nutritional status.
