Bintu is a cheerful nineteen year-old lady from a low-income family. Despite financial challenges, she stays positive and creatively supports her family through art. Bintu enjoys cooking and dancing, and her long-term dream is to become a poet so that she can assist her poor family and sponsor education of her siblings. Bintu was in good health until three weeks ago when she developed a progressively worsening lower abdominal pain that radiated to her back. Despite taking painkillers, the pain persisted. Initially, her parents thought it was related to menstrual cramps or Urinary infection which she was treated 2 months ago. On presentation at our hospital, she was examined, evaluated and was diagnosed with a huge ovarian cyst causing her severe abdominal pains and impacting her quality of life. Surgery is planned pending approval from the Helpster Charity Foundation.

Bintu YAHAYA, an 18-year-old female, was referred to our facility with Huge Ovarian cyst which was also confirmed in UMD.After thorough evaluation and investigation, she underwent ovarian cystectomy. The surgery was successful without immediate complications. Due to the nature of her sickness, she was admitted for 5 days for close monitoring and treatment. The patient recovered well and was discharged home after 5 days, with follow-up care scheduled for 1 week. Currently,Bintu is doing well, has recovered, and has resumed regular activities. Bintu is suffering from a Large ovarian cysts causing her severe abdominal pains, this can lead to complications like ovarian torsion (twisting of the ovary, which can cut off blood supply), rupture (bursting, causing severe pain and internal bleeding), and pressure-related issues (like bloating, frequent urination, or constipation). Bintu, requires urgent surgery to alleviate symptoms and prevent complications. If left untreated, the complex ovarian cyst can cause increased pain, discomfort, and pressure on surrounding organs, with risks of rupture leading to severe pain, internal bleeding, and infection. Surgery, which may involve cyst removal (cystectomy) or removal of the ovary (oophorectomy), is the most effective solution to address her condition.
