Hellen is a seven-month-old child, the third-born in a family of three children. She is described as playful and affectionate in nature and lives with both parents and her siblings. The mother is unemployed and remains at home to care for the children, leaving the father as the sole provider. The father earns a living through irregular casual work as a groundsman at a local school, only working when opportunities arise. Due to the inconsistency of this income, the family struggles to meet basic needs, including food, transportation, and healthcare, and has no financial buffer for medical emergencies. Hellen fell ill on the same day she was brought to the hospital. The father had previously learned about Helpster Charity through the school where he occasionally works. The child presented with vomiting, diarrhea, restlessness, and fever. At home, the mother did not have any fever-reducing medication to administer, reflecting the family’s limited access to basic medical supplies. Recognizing the seriousness of the illness, the mother promptly sought medical care. With no means of private transport, she was accompanied by a neighbour who assisted by providing motorcycle transport to the hospital.

THE CHILD WAS TREATED WITH ANTIMALARIALS (IV ARTESONATE 30MG 0HRS, 12HRS, 24HRS) AND THE CHILD RESPONDED WELL. AND OTHER DRUGS GIVEN AS PER TREATMENT SHEET, MADE THE CHILD CONDITION TO IMPROVE BETTER.

Following the diagnosis of severe malaria and gastroenteritis, Hellen’s prognosis is favourable with timely and appropriate medical care. With prompt initiation of antimalarial therapy, adequate rehydration, and supportive management, her condition is expected to improve steadily. Early treatment significantly reduces the risk of complications such as severe anemia, electrolyte imbalance, or progression to life-threatening illness. With close monitoring, completion of prescribed medications, and proper nutritional support, Hellen is expected to recover fully.
