Why is treatment done earlier than admission?
Sometimes, when a case is urgent and vital, hospitals may proceed with delivering medical care right away to save a life, even before the finalization of admission procedures. Usually, when this happens, hospitals put the bill on our credit until the funds are transferred to their accounts.
That's why the chronology can sometimes be in disorder.

Background
Pershy is a jubilant child, and also very playful. She was brought to the hospital severely dehydrated due to several episodes of diarrhoea and vomiting.
Medical history
Pershy was brought to the hospital severely dehydrated, extremely lethargic and with sunken eyes due to several episodes of diarrhoea and vomiting. She was immediately put on intravenous fluids to bring up her hydration status. An extensive physical examination was thereafter done on her, followed by laboratory tests. Pershy stayed in the hospital for a few days before she was discharged. She was brought back to the hospital 1 week after the discharge for check up and it was evident that she was alright since she was able to run around the corridors.
Outcome
Gastroenteritis can cause fluid loss through vomiting and diarrhea, leading to dehydration. Severe dehydration can be life-threatening, especially in infants, the elderly, or individuals with weakened immune systems. Continued gastrointestinal symptoms may prevent the absorption of essential nutrients, potentially leading to malnutrition. To treat gastroenteritis, especially if it's due to a viral infection, the focus is typically on supportive care, which includes gradually reintroducing a regular diet once vomiting and diarrhea subside. In some cases, antiemetic (anti-nausea) or antidiarrheal medications may be prescribed, but their use should be carefully monitored, especially in certain situations.
