Asmau is happily married to Malan Musa who was a farmer. They live at Tajiwa village and they are blessed with two kids. She was presented to our hospital with lower abdominal and back pain in prolonged obstructed labor. After examination and investigations, she was found to have Hydrocephalus fetus who was in fetal distress, necessitating an emergency Cesarean section save the fetus life.

Asmau underwent a Caesarean section due to obstetric indications and was managed postoperatively in the maternity ward for close monitoring and recovery. Treatment: Immediately after surgery, she was given Oxytocin to help contract the uterus and prevent postpartum hemorrhage. She also received intravenous antibiotics including Ceftriaxone and Metronidazole to prevent infection. Pain was managed with Paracetamol, and Ibuprofen was also used to reduce pain and inflammation. Intravenous fluids were administered to maintain hydration and support recovery. Recovery: Asmau’s condition improved steadily after surgery. Her vital signs remained stable, the surgical wound healed well, and she was able to breastfeed and move with minimal discomfort. She was discharged in stable condition with advice on proper wound care, medication adherence, adequate rest, and follow-up visits for postnatal review and monitoring. Asamau was diagnosed with prolong instructed labour with hydrocephalus and The medical opinion is that a spontaneous or assisted vaginal delivery is impossible or too dangerous due to the mechanical obstruction caused by the hydrocephalus. The prognosis is dire without urgent intervention. An Emergency Caesarean Section (EMCS) is required to save both the mother and the baby.The doctor's professional opinion and recommendation are an urgent intervention to prevent catastrophic outcomes.
