Background
Parvin Khatun, a gentle and caring 28-year-old housewife, dreams only of a healthy baby and a better future for her children, but her family survives on her husband Ahedul Haque’s meager income of six thousand taka a month as a day laborer. Living in fragile government housing with their eight-year-old daughter Sidratul Muntaha and her elderly in-laws, Mukul Ali and Khorsheda Begum, the family struggles daily to afford food, let alone emergency medical care. When Parvin developed severe pain late in pregnancy and doctors found her baby in a dangerous breech position, an urgent caesarean section became the only way to save the child. Without this surgery, both Parvin and her unborn baby face life-threatening risks, a tragedy that would devastate the entire family. Despite their love, unity, and hope, their poverty leaves them unable to pay for the treatment that could protect two lives.
Medical history
Parvin Khatun arrived at the hospital at 38 weeks of pregnancy with breech presentation and was admitted on 19.11.2025. After medical evaluation, an immediate LSCS was recommended to prevent complications and ensure the safety of both mother and baby. The operation was performed on the same day and was successful, with the baby delivered safely. Following surgery, she received proper medical management, continuous monitoring, and attentive nursing care, which helped her recover well. Both mother and baby remained stable throughout their stay, and after confirming her improved condition, she was discharged on 22.11.2025 in a safe and healthy state.
Outcome
The recommended treatment for her is LSCS under SAB, which is the safest option to deliver the baby immediately and prevent further complications. With timely surgery, the baby is expected to recover well and lead a healthy life. However, if the delivery is delayed or left untreated, the baby may suffer from fetal distress, umbilical cord prolapse, birth trauma like brachial plexus injury, and head entrapment, and the mother may also face life-threatening infections or complications.
