Khushi Akter, only 23 years old and in the final weeks of her pregnancy, is a gentle and resilient mother-to-be living with her husband Helal Uddin, his elderly mother Rupbanu, and his young son Nur Sakin in a small tin-shed house with a mud floor. Helal earns barely 6,000 taka a month from agricultural work, which is almost entirely spent on food, leaving the family with no savings and no ability to afford emergency medical care. Already displaced by river erosion, this family survives only through the kindness of others, making hospital costs completely beyond their reach. Khushi’s condition is critical—her water has broken and she has dangerously low amniotic fluid, putting both her life and her unborn baby at serious risk. Without immediate medical supervision and treatment, the worst outcome could be the loss of the baby, severe complications for Khushi, or even loss of both lives.

Khushi Akter was admitted to Life Care Hospital and Diagnostic Center on 27/11/2025 for delivery and underwent a lower uterine cesarean section (LUCS) on the same day under spinal anesthesia. The procedure was successfully performed by an experienced medical team, followed by appropriate post-operative care including medications, antibiotics, and regular monitoring. Her recovery was smooth, and both mother and newborn remained stable without complications during the hospital stay. She was discharged on 30/11/2025 in good condition with necessary advice and medications. Khushi Akter expressed her sincere gratitude to Helpster Charity, its dedicated volunteers, and the hospital team for their valuable support and compassionate care throughout her treatment.

The doctor has explained that with timely medical care, including a planned cesarean section, both Khushi and her baby have a high chance of a safe delivery and good health. Proper management of her oligohydramnios and ruptured membranes can minimize risks such as fetal distress, umbilical cord compression, infection, or complications during labor. However, if left untreated or if a normal vaginal delivery is attempted, it could lead to serious, potentially life-threatening complications for both mother and baby. Close monitoring and prompt surgical intervention are essential to ensure the best possible outcome, giving the baby the highest chance of being born healthy and thriving.
