Irfan Hossain Toshi is a bright and determined 17-year-old student from Dhaka who lives with his parents and sibling, dreaming of continuing his education without constant pain and breathing trouble. His mother, Etbal Jahan, earns a modest income as a tuition teacher, while his father, Gulzar Hossain, depends on irregular small jobs, leaving the family unable to afford costly surgery. As Irfan’s nasal blockage, headaches, and breathing difficulty worsened due to DNS, turbinate hypertrophy, and chronic sinusitis, his studies and daily life became increasingly disrupted. Without proper surgical treatment, his condition could lead to severe infections, worsening breathing problems, and long-term academic and health setbacks. With guidance from Helpster volunteers, the family found hope for Irfan’s recovery and a chance to restore his health and future.

Irfan Hossain Toshi was admitted to Olympus Hospital (Pvt.) Ltd. on 12 January 2026 with long-standing nasal obstruction and persistent headache that had been affecting him for nearly one year. After thorough evaluation by the ENT department, he was diagnosed with DNS with HIT and sinusitis and remained hospitalized for four days under the care of an ENT specialist. During his stay, he underwent a successful septoplasty with SMDE and FESS under general anesthesia, along with proper medication and post-operative monitoring. Following the procedure, his breathing improved noticeably, his headache reduced, and his overall condition remained stable throughout recovery. The attending doctor and family both expressed satisfaction with his progress, and the guardian conveyed sincere gratitude to Helpster Charity for ensuring timely treatment and support during this critical period.

According to the attending ENT specialist, Irfan requires Septoplasty with ECT and Functional Endoscopic Sinus Surgery (FESS) to correct the deviated septum, reduce turbinate enlargement, and clear chronic sinus blockage. The procedure is essential to restore proper nasal airflow, relieve headaches, and prevent recurrent infections. With timely surgery, Irfan is expected to recover well and experience significant improvement in breathing and daily functioning. However, delaying treatment may worsen obstruction, increase infection risk, and prolong his ongoing discomfort and respiratory difficulties.
