Kulsum B., 20

Kulsum Begum is a gentle and hopeful 20-year-old woman who is expecting her first child and dreams of starting a happy family with her husband Riyaz. Her husband, a daily wage laborer earning only 9,000 BDT per month, struggles to support six family members, including his parents Makshuda and Abu Bashar, and two younger brothers, making it impossible to afford emergency medical expenses. When Kulsum noticed reduced movement of her unborn baby, doctors diagnosed severe complications and advised an urgent caesarean section to save the baby’s life. Without timely treatment, the baby may suffer from severe oxygen shortage, which could lead to permanent damage or even death. After learning about Helpster Charity through miking and volunteer Abdur Rahman, the family is now seeking urgent support to ensure a safe delivery and protect both mother and child.

After experiencing, less fetal movement for 18+ hours without labour pain over 38+ weeks of her pregnancy , she arrived at our hospital at 9.0AM in 03 December 2025, where doctors performed an ultrasound and clinical examination that revealed severe oligohydro amnions (AFI=04.00cm) with fetal distress (FHR= 108 BPM), making vaginal delivery impossible. An emergency cesarean section was promptly arranged, and the procedure was successful, resulting in the birth of a beautiful baby girl. Both the mother and the baby are safe and sound, with no complications arising from the surgery. We discharged the patient at 10.30AM in 06 December 2025. The patient's family expressed their heartfelt gratitude to the Helpster Heroes and the hospital for their timely and effective care.

Doctors have advised LUCS (Lower Uterine Caesarean Section) as the most appropriate and life-saving treatment in this critical condition. With timely surgical intervention, the baby can be delivered safely, reducing the risk of oxygen deprivation and significantly improving the chances of a healthy outcome for both mother and child. After the operation, Kulsum is expected to recover well with proper care, and her newborn can begin a normal and healthy life. However, if the condition is left untreated, the baby may suffer from severe lack of oxygen, leading to irreversible damage or even death. Delaying the procedure also increases the risk of serious complications for the mother, making immediate treatment essential to save both lives.
