Why is treatment done earlier than admission?

Sometimes, when a case is urgent and vital, hospitals may proceed with delivering medical care right away to save a life, even before the finalization of admission procedures. Usually, when this happens, hospitals put the bill on our credit until the funds are transferred to their accounts.
That's why the chronology can sometimes be in disorder.

Background

Abigail is the second-born child in a family of three siblings. She lives with her parents in the village. Her mother works as a casual labourer, helping neighbours fetch water from a nearby well to earn a living, while her father works as a night guard at a local primary school. Abigail attends school and dreams of becoming a teacher in the future. Abigail fell ill with diarrhea, vomiting, abdominal pain, and fever. Her mother initially gave her herbal remedies, but her condition worsened significantly. The vomiting became profuse, and she was unable to keep any food or fluids down. She became extremely weak and visibly dehydrated, with sunken eyes and dry lips. After learning about Helpster Charity from a neighbour, her mother rushed her to the hospital for urgent medical care. Abigael was diagnosed with sepsis and severe dehydration.

Medical history

Abigail presented with complains of diarrhea vomiting abdominal pains and hotness of the body. She was examined tested and found to have severe dehydration due to gastroenteritis. Abigail was treated with hydrating fluids to restore fluid balance , antibiotics and antipyretics. She was then observed for 3 days and discharged home to continue with medication.Abigail is now feeling better and back to her normal activities. Abigail was also taught about the importance of hand washing to prevent diarrhoeal disseases. Her mother is happy and says thank you helpster charity.

Outcome

Doctor’s opinion: Severe dehydration due to gastroenteritis is a medical emergency requiring immediate treatment, usually with IV fluids and electrolyte replacement. Abigail was also diagnosed with sepsis, a life-threatening medical emergency resulting from a severe infection that had spread into her bloodstream. At presentation, she was critically ill with marked dehydration, persistent vomiting, fever, and extreme weakness, indicating systemic involvement and a high risk of organ dysfunction. She required immediate admission, intravenous fluids, broad-spectrum antibiotics, and close monitoring to stabilize her condition and prevent progression to organ failure or death. Prognosis: Good if treated promptly, with full recovery expected; poor or life-threatening if treatment is delayed, especially in children, elderly, or weak patients. Abigael's prognosis is good Doctors view sepsis as a medical emergency. It’s a serious, life-threatening reaction to infection that requires immediate treatment, but early recognition and rapid care greatly improve survival and recovery.
