Yahaya S., 19

Yahaya is a 19-year-old who enjoys exploring, reading, drawing, and playing with friends. He dreams of discovering new places and creating things that help others. He developed abdominal pain around the belly button that gradually moved to the lower right side over four days. The pain was sharp and constant, worsened with movement, and associated with nausea, vomiting, loss of appetite, and low-grade fever. Examination findings were suggestive of acute appendicitis. He is currently mildly ill but stable and is scheduled for an urgent appendectomy to avoid having a ruptured appendix which would lead to complications.

Yahaya, a 19-year-old young man, was admitted on 20/01/2026 with acute appendicitis and underwent a successful emergency appendectomy. He received intravenous antibiotics, pain medications, intravenous fluids, and comprehensive postoperative care with close medical monitoring. After seven days in the hospital, Yahaya recovered well. His pain resolved, his surgical wound healed satisfactorily, and he was discharged home in stable condition with medications and follow-up instructions. If left untreated, the appendix could rupture, leading to severe infection (peritonitis), which can be life-threatening and cause a much longer, more complicated recovery.
