Why is treatment done earlier than admission?

Sometimes, when a case is urgent and vital, hospitals may proceed with delivering medical care right away to save a life, even before the finalization of admission procedures. Usually, when this happens, hospitals put the bill on our credit until the funds are transferred to their accounts.
That's why the chronology can sometimes be in disorder.

Background

Umar Abdulrashit is an active and curious young boy who enjoys both outdoor and indoor activities. Despite having occasional health challenges such as asthma, he has dreams of pursuing his education, staying healthy, and achieving his goals. Umar suddenly developed chest pain, cough, and difficulty breathing. These symptoms were accompanied by weakness and sweating. He had no major prior illnesses, although he had experienced occasional breathing problems in the past. On examination, Umar appeared ill, with a fast pulse and rapid breathing. He also had mild splenomegaly. Investigations revealed mild anemia, with normal blood sugar and electrolyte levels. The condition caused rapid breathing and general illness, requiring urgent medical attention and treatment. He was diagnosed with acute asthma and malaria and is currently under medical care.

Medical history

Umar, an 18-year-old young man, was admitted on 18/01/2026 with an acute asthma exacerbation complicated by malaria. He received nebulized bronchodilators, antimalarial medications, oxygen therapy as needed, corticosteroids, intravenous fluids, and supportive care under close medical monitoring. After three days in the hospital, Umar recovered well. His breathing improved, his fever resolved, and he was discharged home in good condition, able to resume his normal daily activities. Thanks to Helpter Charity for sponsoring the treatment of Umar.

Prognosis

Umar is suffering from an acute asthma attack, characterized by sudden chest pain, cough, and difficulty in breathing. This is accompanied by weakness and fever, and complicated by malaria and mild anemia. Umar is at risk of respiratory failure, where the airways become so narrow that oxygen cannot reach the blood and carbon dioxide cannot be expelled. This can lead to status asthmaticus, a severe, prolonged attack that does not respond to standard "reliever" inhalers and requires urgent hospital intervention to prevent cardiac arrest. The doctor’s prognosis is that with prompt and proper treatment, the child is expected to recover well and return to normal daily activities. However, if left untreated, the acute asthma attack and malaria could worsen, leading to severe breathing difficulty, complications, and potentially life-threatening outcomes.
