Eleven-year-old Mst. Ashrafi Akter is a hardworking and hopeful student who dreams of continuing her education, even though her family of seven survives on her father’s small income as a day laborer. With two siblings and elderly grandparents to support, the family struggles to manage daily expenses, leaving no savings for medical emergencies. When Ashrafi developed persistent right lower abdominal pain and high fever for seven days, her parents first sought medicine from a local pharmacy, but her condition did not improve, and doctors at Jamuna Clinic later diagnosed her with enteric fever. Without proper and timely treatment, enteric fever can lead to severe complications such as intestinal bleeding, perforation, or life-threatening infection. After learning from nurse Sumaiya Khatun that Helpster supports underprivileged patients, her father met with Bablu Abdullah, hoping for assistance to ensure his daughter’s recovery and protect her future.

Mst. Ashrafi Akter was admitted to the hospital on January 22, 2025, with lower right-sided abdominal pain. Her parents initially suspected appendicitis. After medical evaluation, she was diagnosed with enteric fever. Following four days of treatment, she showed significant improvement and was discharged on January 26, 2025, in good health. Throughout her hospital stay, her mother and mother-in-law remained by her side to provide care and support. The family expressed their sincere gratitude to Helpster, Jamuna Clinic, and Md. Abdullah Miah for their dedicated treatment and assistance. Ashrafi’s mother was especially thankful for the financial support provided by Helpster, which played a vital role in her daughter’s recovery.

Doctors have advised hospitalization with intravenous antibiotic therapy and supportive care to effectively treat Ashrafi’s enteric fever. With timely and appropriate treatment, her fever is expected to subside gradually, her strength will return, and she can resume her normal studies and daily activities. Proper medical supervision will also help prevent serious complications and ensure complete recovery. However, if left untreated or if treatment is delayed, enteric fever can lead to life-threatening conditions such as intestinal perforation, severe infection, or prolonged weakness. Early hospital care is therefore essential to protect her health and future.
