Why is treatment done earlier than admission?

Sometimes, when a case is urgent and vital, hospitals may proceed with delivering medical care right away to save a life, even before the finalization of admission procedures. Usually, when this happens, hospitals put the bill on our credit until the funds are transferred to their accounts.
That's why the chronology can sometimes be in disorder.

Background

Gloria is the youngest in a family of five and a Grade 9 pupil who enjoys dancing and riding her bicycle. She is disciplined and dreams of becoming a police officer in the future. Gloria lives with her mother and siblings, while her father works away from home in search of job opportunities and visits occasionally. Her mother is unemployed, leaving the father as the sole provider through small jobs in a village compound, earning a modest income to support the family. Gloria developed symptoms including epigastric pain, diarrhoea, fever, vomiting, chills, and painful urination, which had persisted for about three days. Her mother sought help from a neighbour, who purchased antibiotics and painkillers that Gloria used for nearly three days, but her condition did not improve. As the symptoms continued to recur and became more severe, her mother became alarmed and rushed her to the hospital for treatment. At the facility, Gloria and her mother learned about Helpster Charity after the mother explained that she could not afford the hospital bill, and a staff member informed her about the support available through the organization.

Medical history

GLORIA WAS TREATED WITH ANTIBIOTICS, IV FLUIDS, PROTON PUMP INHIBITORS(PPIs) THAT HELP REDUCE STOMACH ACID AND OTHER MEDICATIONS AS PER MEDICAL REPORT. SHE RESPONDED SO WELL TO THE CARE AND MANAGEMENT THAT WAS GIVEN TO HER AND STABILIZED. SHE WAS THEN DISCHARGED HOME ON ORAL MEDICATIONS TO CONTINUE WITH AT HOME. A FOLLOWUP CALL CONFIRMED THAT GLORIA WAS DOING WELL.

Outcome

The prognosis for peptic ulcer disease (PUD) is generally excellent with proper treatment, as most ulcers heal within a few weeks using proton pump inhibitors (PPIs) and H. pylori eradication. While mortality rates have decreased significantly, recurrence is common—exceeding 60% if the underlying cause (e.g., H. pylori, NSAIDs) is not managed. The prognosis for a urinary tract infection (UTI) is excellent with prompt antibiotic treatment, usually resolving symptoms within 24 to 48 hours. While uncomplicated UTIs can sometimes resolve spontaneously, treatment is recommended to prevent progression to kidney infections (pyelonephritis). Uncomplicated cases typically clear in 3-7 days, though complications can arise in high-risk groups. The prognosis for gastroenteritis is generally excellent, with most cases in healthy individuals being self-limiting and resolving within 1 to 3 days. While rarely serious for most, it can cause severe dehydration in vulnerable populations—specifically young children, the elderly, and the immunocompromised.
