Adamu Musa is a 1-year-2-month-old infant, the youngest of six children, born into a family displaced by the insurgency in Maiduguri. His mother is a full-time housewife caring for all six children, while his father is a small-scale trader struggling to meet the family’s basic needs. Living in poverty and displacement, Adamu depends entirely on his parents’ care. He developed illness gradually, starting with frequent watery stools, leading to weakness, irritability, and dehydration. This was followed by persistent fever, poor feeding, excessive sleepiness, cough, noisy breathing, and nasal congestion. He later developed bilateral red, swollen eyes with discharge, and became progressively weaker, less playful, and refused feeds. Due to the severity of his condition, his parents rushed him to Nakowa Hospital, where he was admitted into the Paediatric Ward under the Helpster Program for close monitoring and treatment.

1 year old Adamu Musa was admitted on 20th January 2026 with high fever, diarrhea, cough, breathing difficulty, eye infection, and weakness. He received treatment with Arteether, IV Ceftriaxone, IV Flagyl, IV Paracetamol, Cefuroxine, Zinc, fluids, and other supportive medications after necessary investigations. His condition improved steadily as his fever reduced, diarrhea stopped, breathing improved, and he regained his appetite and activity. Adamu was discharged on 23rd January 2026 in stable condition. His family sincerely thanks Helpster Charity for covering his medical expenses and giving him a second chance at life.

With early diagnosis, prompt hospital admission, and appropriate treatment, Adamu Musa’s prognosis is good. Diarrhea disease, malaria, Upper Respiratory Tract Infection, and bilateral conjunctivitis are conditions that respond well to proper medical care in young children when managed on time. Through rehydration therapy, antimalarial treatment, antibiotics or supportive medications where necessary, and careful monitoring, Adamu’s strength is expected to gradually return. As his fluid balance is restored, his fever controlled, breathing improves, and eye infection clears, his appetite and activity level should also improve steadily. Continued inpatient care ensures that complications such as severe dehydration, worsening infection, or breathing difficulties are prevented. With adequate nutrition, follow-up care, and a supportive home environment after discharge, Adamu has a strong chance of full recovery and normal growth for his age.
