Ruth, a 30 year old mother of 1 and currently pregnant with the second child. The husband is small scale farmer who struggles very hard to provide for the family. Sometimes they hard get the food to eat. They live in a one room apartment, they make use of water from the well for their daily activities, they have access to electricity. The wife has no job nor any business. They heard about Helpster Charity from a beneficiary that is why they contacted Alheri Clinic to be enrolled. A 30-year-old pregnant woman presented with complaints of fever, headache, and body weakness. Fever is high grade intermittent fever associated with headache, no blurry vision. There were also complaints of general body weakness and throwing up. No cough, no deficiency in breathing. On examination, a young woman, ill looking, not pale, febrile (37.9o C). Anicteric, not dehydrated. She heard about the Helpster Charity program and looked for means of reaching out to get help. She was admitted and evaluated properly where she was diagnosed with severe malaria in pregnancy.

Anicteric, not dehydrated. She was admitted and treatment commenced with antimalarial injection, intravenous fluids as well as other supportive care. Patient did well, she became stable, no more complaints of headache and body weakness, fever was completely gone. Patient was counseled to always have rest and avoid working too much. She was discharged with some oral medications and asked to return after 1 week for follow up. The family are so happy and remained grateful to Helpster Charity for the medical support.

Prompt management through blood microscopy or rapid diagnostic tests and immediate treatment with appropriate antimalarial therapy are essential to reduce maternal and neonatal morbidity and mortality.
