Why is treatment done earlier than admission?
Sometimes, when a case is urgent and vital, hospitals may proceed with delivering medical care right away to save a life, even before the finalization of admission procedures. Usually, when this happens, hospitals put the bill on our credit until the funds are transferred to their accounts.
That's why the chronology can sometimes be in disorder.

Background
Baby Moriam Akter, a one-month-old premature twin, brightens her small home in Chandpur with her tiny movements and soft cries, giving hope to her loving family. Her father, Md Anis, works as a tailor’s assistant earning only about BDT 7,000 a month, supporting Moriam, her twin brother Omar, their mother Mukta, and her elderly grandparents, leaving the family unable to afford costly treatment after spending their savings on the twins’ birth and hospital care. Despite their struggles, Moriam is a gentle and fragile baby who brings great joy to everyone around her. Without urgent treatment, both Moriam and her twin brother could lose their eyesight and grow up unable to see their parents or the world around them. A counselor from the pediatric unit of Mazharul Haque BNSB Eye Hospital informed the family about Helpster Charity, and they now hope for kind support to save their babies’ vision and future
Medical history
Moriam Akter, a 1-month-old baby girl, was admitted for urgent management of Retinopathy of Prematurity (ROP) in both eyes, a condition that can lead to permanent vision loss if left untreated. After thorough evaluation, he received Anti-VEGF injection on 22.01.2026, administered by Dr. Md. Saiful Islam, the hospital’s ROP Specialist. The treatment process was carefully planned and executed, with close monitoring to ensure safety and effectiveness. During his stay, his response to the treatment was positive, showing encouraging signs of recovery. The abnormal growth of retinal blood vessels has now been successfully controlled. His retinal condition has improved significantly, and doctors are hopeful that he will develop clear vision in the future. He was discharged in stable condition with advice for regular follow-up, and heartfelt thanks go to Helpster Charity and Helpster Heroes for making this life-changing treatment possible.
Outcome
According to Dr. Md. Anwar Hossain Sheikh, Chief Consultant, and Dr. Md. Saiful Islam, ROP Specialist at Mazharul Haque BNSB Eye Hospital, Chandpur, both babies urgently need Anti-VEGF injections such as Avastin along with regular follow-up examinations to stop abnormal vessel growth and allow normal retinal development. Doctors assure that timely treatment can preserve the babies’ eyesight and allow them to grow up normally. However, delay in treatment may cause irreversible damage leading to lifelong blindness. The required treatment and follow-up cost approximately BDT 18,000, which is beyond the family’s ability to afford. With generous support, Moriam and her brother can be given the precious chance to see the world and build a brighter future.
