Naomi O., 21

Naomi is the third-born in her family and lives with her single mother and five siblings in a three-room mud-walled house. Although she has eight siblings, the older ones have left home in search of better opportunities. Naomi recently finished school and is currently unemployed, relying on her mother, who does menial jobs to support the family. In her free time, she enjoys plaiting hair. Naomi had been experiencing recurrent abdominal pain for some time and initially bought over-the-counter medication, which provided only temporary relief. When the pain persisted, her mother encouraged her to go to the hospital despite their financial challenges, believing that her health was more important. On the day her condition worsened, a neighbour helped transport them to the hospital on a motorbike, where Naomi was received in the emergency department as she appeared pale and weak. While admitted, days after they had been attended to and Naomi was out of danger, they learned about Helpster Charity when a hospital clerk moved around the wards asking patients about their mode of payment. Naomi had been diagnosed with a ruptured ectopic pregnancy

Naomi was brought to the facility with history of abdominal pains, she was examined and diagnosed with ectopic pregnancy. She was rushed for an emergency surgery. She was administered IVpcm, morphine, brufen among other drugs. She responded well to medication with the surgical site healing , she was later discharged on orals.

The prognosis for a 21-year-old who has undergone emergency surgery (laparotomy/cesarean) for a ruptured ectopic pregnancy, specifically a cesarean scar pregnancy, is generally good for survival if immediate care was received, though the reproductive prognosis requires careful management. While the rupture is a life-threatening obstetric emergency, most women can go on to have healthy future pregnancies. Naomi received prompt medical intervention and is expected to make a full recovery with proper and adequate post surgery care
