Lorine is a twelve-year-old Grade Six pupil at a local rural school. She is the fourth-born in a family of five children and has grown up with both parents in the community. Her mother is the sole breadwinner, earning a living by selling vegetables at the market to support the family’s daily needs. Her father is disabled following a serious illness that left him unable to work, and he depends on medication for his condition. Lorine is a hardworking and responsible girl. When she is well, she helps her mother at the market selling tomatoes to supplement the family’s income and ensure her father can afford his medication. Academically, she excels in mathematics and is considered one of the best in her class. She dreams of becoming an accountant in the future. Lorine was brought to the health facility by a community health promoter attached to the facility, who is well-informed about Helpster Charity and the support it offers. She had been in good health until about two weeks prior when she began experiencing persistent headaches, chills, and high body temperatures. The family initially managed her symptoms with over-the-counter painkillers purchased from a local chemist. However, despite this, her condition did not improve. Instead, her symptoms progressively worsened, prompting the community health promoter to facilitate her visit to the health facility for proper medical evaluation.

Lorine was put under medication for three days that she showed improvement day by day and by the third day, she was okay and was ready to go home but still under oral prescription that she had to adhere.

Lorine was thoroughly evaluated at the health facility and appropriate laboratory tests were conducted to confirm the diagnosis. Following the assessment, she was started on the recommended treatment and supportive care, including medication to control fever and relieve symptoms. Early intervention at the health facility was important to prevent the illness from progressing to more severe complications. Lorine’s overall condition was stable, and she responded well to treatment during observation. Caregivers were advised on the importance of completing the prescribed medication, maintaining proper nutrition and hydration, and returning to the facility for follow-up if symptoms persist or worsen.
