Caren is the second-born in a family of four. She lives with her mother and siblings in a one-bedroom mud-walled house. Caren is a joyful and caring girl who enjoys singing and dreams of becoming a doctor in the future. Her mother is a single parent living at her parents’ home and is the sole provider for the family. She works as a house help to earn an income and support her children’s basic needs. Caren had been unwell for about three days before seeking medical attention, experiencing symptoms such as headache, dizziness, severe abdominal pain, heartburn, fatigue, nausea, occasional vomiting, and fever. Initially, she hoped the symptoms would resolve on their own, but her condition worsened, with the pain becoming more intense. SHE RESPONDED SO WELL TO THE CARE AND MANAGEMENT SHE WAS GIVEN AND STABILIZED WELL AND HER CONDITION IMPROVED BETTER COMPARED TO THE DAY OF ADMISSION. CAREN WAS THEN DISCHARGED HOME ON ORAL MEDICATIONS TH COMPLETE AT HOME.

The likely sequence was that an underlying infection progressed into septicaemia, leading to low blood pressure and worsening her overall condition. The peptic ulcer disease may have contributed to her abdominal pain and could have been aggravated by stress, infection, or delayed treatment. The prognosis is guarded but improving with prompt treatment. With timely and appropriate medical care, Caren is expected to gradually stabilize, with improvement in blood pressure, reduction of infection, and healing of the ulcers.
