Why is treatment done earlier than admission?
Sometimes, when a case is urgent and vital, hospitals may proceed with delivering medical care right away to save a life, even before the finalization of admission procedures. Usually, when this happens, hospitals put the bill on our credit until the funds are transferred to their accounts.
That's why the chronology can sometimes be in disorder.

Background
Saidu is a 10year old friendly boy, who loves to play games and dreams of becoming a pilot when he grows up. A week ago he developed fever, anorexia, and abdominal cramps. Currently, he is having vomiting, diarrhea and is mildly dehydrated.
Medical history
Saidu was diagnosed with Acute Gastroenteritis at our facility. He was admitted and received intravenous fluid, antibiotics, and antimalarial treatment for resuscitation. Once his clinical condition improved, he was discharged on November 28, 2023.
Outcome
Gastroenteritis can cause fluid loss through vomiting and diarrhea, leading to dehydration. Severe dehydration can be life-threatening, especially in infants, the elderly, or individuals with weakened immune systems. Continued gastrointestinal symptoms may prevent the absorption of essential nutrients, potentially leading to malnutrition. To treat gastroenteritis, especially if it's due to a viral infection, the focus is typically on supportive care, which includes gradually reintroducing a regular diet once vomiting and diarrhea subside. In some cases, antiemetic (anti-nausea) or antidiarrheal medications may be prescribed, but their use should be carefully monitored, especially in certain situations.
