Why is treatment done earlier than admission?

Sometimes, when a case is urgent and vital, hospitals may proceed with delivering medical care right away to save a life, even before the finalization of admission procedures. Usually, when this happens, hospitals put the bill on our credit until the funds are transferred to their accounts.
That's why the chronology can sometimes be in disorder.

Background

Ruth is a 20-year-old young woman who is energetic, hardworking, and deeply passionate about agriculture. She enjoys farming and is continuously learning skills in crop production and land management. Despite her humble background, she remains determined and aspires to become a successful large-scale agricultural entrepreneur in the future. She lives with her parents in a remote rural area, where the family relies on small-scale farming for survival. Their yields are often low and insufficient to meet basic needs such as food, education, and healthcare. These challenges have only strengthened Ruth’s resolve to improve her family’s circumstances. She is resilient, focused, and forward-thinking. Ruth was brought to the health facility by her mother with a three-day history of severe lower abdominal pain, reduced fetal movements, frequent urination, headache, discomfort under the ribs, and back pain. Based on clinical examination, laboratory findings, and ultrasound, she was found to have Grade 2 meconium-stained liquor, cervical dilation of 2 cm that had persisted for 14 hours, an abnormal fetal heart rate, and reduced fetal movements. She was diagnosed with fetal distress in breech presentation. Due to these complications, the medical team recommended an emergency caesarean section as the safest and most immediate intervention to save both the mother and the baby. Ruth shared that she had learned about Helpster Charity from flyers distributed at the local market. Given her family’s financial constraints, she requested the hospital to consider whether Helpster could assist in covering the cost of the caesarean section. Following this, a social worker was engaged to assess her eligibility for support under the Helpster Charity program.

Medical history

Ruth came to the facility with complains of, Severe lower abdominal pain, headache, frequent urination, discomfort under ribs, changed shape of the abdomen. Based on clinical examination, laboratory and ultrasound investigation, abnormal heart rate, Meconium grade 2 and reduced fetal movement for the last two days. She was diagnosed with fetal distress in breech presentation. Due to this complications medical team recommended for emergency ceaserian section to be contacted immediately which was done successfully. Both mother and the baby were doing well and discharged on good condition.

Outcome

Ruth presented with fetal distress in breech presentation, a high-risk obstetric emergency that required immediate intervention. The decision to perform an emergency caesarean section was appropriate and life-saving, as it minimized the risk of complications to both the mother and the baby. The procedure was successfully carried out, and both mother and newborn were stabilized post-operatively. Ruth is currently under close observation, receiving post-operative care including pain management, infection prevention, and monitoring of vital signs and wound healing. The prognosis for both Ruth and her baby is good following timely surgical intervention. With proper post-operative care, adherence to medication, and adequate nutrition, Ruth is expected to recover well without long-term complications. The baby, having been delivered promptly, is also expected to do well. Follow-up visits will be essential to support full recovery and overall well-being for both mother and child.
