Fatima is an 11 months year old female child, the fourth among 4 children. The family are so happy having them in their lives as she has this active strength. She looks very happy playing with her siblings. The family finds it difficult in terms of finances, the father is a security guard while the mother is a house wife. The children were often sent home because of school fees. They live in 2 rooms apartment having a pit toilet with a well water in the compound. They don't have access to electricity. Baby was well until three days ago when she suddenly felt very hot associated with runny nose, cough and couldn’t sleep at night. Yesterday she started vomiting everything injested On examination, bay looks very ill, febrile (38.9o C), irritable, anicteric, acyanosed, palor, Tachypneic, with noisy breathing, not jaundiced no organ enlargement and looks pale. She was diagnosed with severe Malaria and Pneumonia. They were unable to take the child to the hospital because they had no money that is why they contacted Helpster Charity for medical assistance. They came and the child was admitted and thoroughly evaluated.

Yesterday she started vomiting everything injested On examination, bay looks very ill, febrile (38.9o C), irritable unicteric, acyanosed, palor, Tachypneic, with noisy breathing, not jaundiced no organ enlargement and looks pale. He was diagnosed with severe Malaria and Pneumonia. On admission, patient was managed with injection antimalarials, injection antibiotics and other supportive care, patient was monitored until stable, fever stopped and temperature was normalized with some antipyretics, she was discharged with some home medications to be returned after one week for follow up. The family remained grateful to Helpster Charity for the medical assistance.

Fatima is having severe malaria with pneumonia, she was admitted for urgent medical care. Severe malaria may results to anemia, hypoglycemia, and altered consciousness, while pneumonia contributes to hypoxia and respiratory distress. Prognosis can be good with prompt treatment using intravenous antimalarials, antibiotics, oxygen, and supportive care. Management includes intravenous antimalarials, broad-spectrum antibiotics, oxygen therapy, fluid management, and close monitoring. Early recognition and prompt treatment are essential to reduce complications and mortality, however, for Fatima early treatment was initiated and patient is doing well on treatment.
