Heaven Skyler is a 2-year-old girl living with her mother in Kibos, Kisumu. She enjoys singing at church, playing with other children, and helping her mother with simple chores like washing utensils. Her favorite food is rice and beans, and she is yet to start school. She presented with a history of snoring, mouth breathing, restless sleep, and repeated upper respiratory infections. Her condition had worsened, with disturbed sleep, poor feeding, irritability, and poor weight gain, leaving her visibly uncomfortable and in distress. A PNS (Paranasal Sinuses) X-ray was performed, showing adenotonsillar hypertrophy with severe narrowing of the nasopharyngeal airway. She was referred to the hospital for further management, with support from Helpster Charity through a community health practitioner.

Adenotonsillar hypertrophy, if untreated, severe cases can lead to chronic sleep apnea, growth failure, neurocognitive issues, and craniofacial changes. The doctor has recommended adenotonsillectomy procedure to assist the child. Heaven's overall prognosis after adenotonsillectomy ought to be very good, especially given the severity of her symptoms before surgery. Removing the enlarged tonsils and adenoids is expected to relieve the obstruction in her upper airway and significantly improve her quality of life.
