Omar Zia, a gentle and innocent 6-year-old refugee child, lives with his parents and siblings in a small makeshift shelter, where his father’s irregular income as a day laborer is not enough to meet even basic needs, making it impossible to afford his treatment. Despite his pain, Omar remains quiet and hopeful, but during severe episodes he cries and refuses to eat, deeply worrying his parents and siblings. His condition has become serious, with repeated painful swelling that is affecting his daily life and well-being. The family came to know about Helpster Charity through volunteer Ahammod Ali Azad and is now seeking support for his treatment. Without timely surgery, the swelling may become trapped and lead to life-threatening complications, putting Omar’s young life at serious risk.

Omor Zia, a 6-year-old refugee boy, was admitted to Orion Hospital on 14.09.2026 through Helpster volunteer Ahammad Ali Azad with left-sided scrotal swelling, intermittent groin pain, and swelling. After clinical assessment, he was diagnosed with a Left-Sided Reducible Incomplete Direct Hernia and underwent herniotomy under general anesthesia on 16.09.2026, followed by pain management, wound care, gradual mobilization, and regular follow-up. After four days of hospital care, Omor showed satisfactory recovery and was discharged on 18.09.2026 in stable condition with necessary advice and follow-up instructions. The treatment expenses were fully supported by Helpster Charity, and the family expressed sincere gratitude to Helpster, its volunteers, and the hospital team for their support and care.

Doctors have recommended a herniotomy (inguinal hernia repair) to correct Omar’s condition and prevent further complications. With proper postoperative care, including pain management, wound care, and regular follow-up visits, he is expected to make a full recovery and return to normal childhood activities without pain or restriction. The procedure will relieve his recurring discomfort, improve his appetite, and allow him to grow and play like other children his age. However, if left untreated, the hernia may become trapped or obstructed, cutting off blood supply to the intestine and leading to a life-threatening emergency. Timely surgery will not only restore his health but also protect his future well-being and development.
