Blessing Sylvester is a 5 year old girl who lives with her Aunt a widow and the two other children. Her parents currently live in crisis ridden plateau state. Her Aunt is a petty trader and rely on her small farm for food. Their combined income is around 30,000 per month. They live in a modest single room apartment in uke, Nasarawa State. Blessing is very lively and playful. Blessing is currently not in school due to financial challenges. Blessing Sylvester 5 years old was reported to have initially developed a prolonged cough accompanied by elevated body temperature, particularly noticeable at night. In response, home treatment was initiated through the purchase of medications from a local chemist. The symptoms appeared to improve temporarily with this intervention. However, two days prior to presentation at our facility, her condition worsened significantly. She experienced severe cough, increased body temperature, inability to sleep at night, loss of appetite, less activity and noticeable weight loss. Upon arrival, she was assessed and diagnosed with malaria and severe typhoid fever. She was admitted for inpatient care and received appropriate treatment.

Blessing Sylvester 5 years old was presented to the facility. Upon being presented to our facility by the caregiver, the caregiver narrated all the visible symptoms manifested by the the child, she was presented for laboratory investigation. The child was diagnosed with severe Malaria and Typhoid. She was treated with injectables which was well tolerated for two days. The child has since been discharged with oral medication and is recovering well.

Blessing Sylvester is suffering both Severe malaria and typhoid fever which are serious infections that can significantly affect the child's health. The combination increases the risk of dehydration, anemia, and overall clinical deterioration. With appropriate treatment, including antimalarial drugs, antibiotics, and supportive care, recovery is expected. Prognosis is generally good with timely intervention, and in this case favorable as the patient has responded well to treatment, though continued monitoring is important to ensure full recovery.
