Why is treatment done earlier than admission?

Sometimes, when a case is urgent and vital, hospitals may proceed with delivering medical care right away to save a life, even before the finalization of admission procedures. Usually, when this happens, hospitals put the bill on our credit until the funds are transferred to their accounts.
That's why the chronology can sometimes be in disorder.

TIONYCARE HOSPITAL

SDA WARWA ROAD

Background

Alvin comes from a family that was internally displaced due to conflicts between neighboring communities. They now live on a friend’s farm and rely on informal support for their daily survival. While returning home from school one evening, Alvin was attacked by a group of school dropouts, an incident that resulted in pregnancy since she was also sexually assaulted. She became emotionally distressed when recounting the traumatic experience. When she went into labor, she was first taken to a government health facility. However, due to an ongoing doctors’ strike, she was referred to Tionycare Hospital for emergency care, where she underwent a cesarean section for delivery. More than ten days after the procedure, the family remains unable to pay the required Social Health Authority (SHA) contributions needed for discharge, leaving them stranded in the hospital. A social worker later informed them about Helpster Charity as a possible source of support.

Medical history

After the Caesarean section, Alvine’s baby was born healthy and in good condition, requiring only routine care and observation. The medical team ensured the baby was warm, well-fed, and closely monitored as part of standard postnatal care. The child showed normal breathing, strong cries, and good feeding from the start, which reassured everyone of a smooth recovery. Alvine was soon able to hold and bond with her baby, and together they steadily regained strength. With continued care and support, both mother and child recovered well, allowing them to return home and begin their new life in good health.

Prognosis

Alvin presented with complications of obstructed labor likely due to cephalopelvic disproportion, necessitating emergency cesarean section. Postoperatively, she is stable but requires close monitoring for infection, wound healing, and overall recovery. Given the traumatic circumstances surrounding her pregnancy, she is also experiencing significant emotional distress. She would benefit from psychotherapy and psychosocial support to address trauma, promote healing, and support her mental wellbeing. Her prognosis is good with proper medical care and emotional support. With follow-up, nutrition, and counseling, she is expected to recover physically and gradually regain psychological stability.
