Background

Hafsat Bala is a 7-year-old girl who lives with her family in a low-income household. Her father is a farmer, and the family earns about ₦16,000 per month, which is barely enough to meet their basic daily needs. Hafsat is a cheerful and playful child. She enjoys playing with other children, singing, and listening to stories from her family. She is curious and enjoys learning new things at school. She dreams of becoming a nurse or teacher in the future. She often expresses a desire to help sick people and support children in her community, showing her kind and caring nature even at a young age.

Medical history

Hafsat Bala, a 7-year-old girl, was admitted on 14/04/2026 with severe malaria. She received antimalarial medications, antipyretics, intravenous fluids, supportive care, and close medical monitoring. After three days in the hospital, Hafsat responded well to treatment. Her fever and weakness resolved, she regained her strength, and she was discharged home in good condition, able to return to her normal daily activities. Prognosis

Hafsat Bala presented with severe malaria, characterized by high fever, lethargy, weakness, vomiting, mild anemia, and splenomegaly. She needed immediate hospitalization and treatment to prevent life-threatening complications such as cerebral malaria, kidney failure, severe anemia, or death. With prompt and appropriate antimalarial treatment, intravenous fluids, fever control, and close monitoring, her prognosis was very good full recovery was expected without long-term complications. If treatment had been delayed, her condition could have deteriorated rapidly, with potentially fatal consequences. Thanks to timely intervention, the dangerous path was avoided.
