Zim Akter, a 2-year-old child, lives with her parents, elder brother, and elderly grandparents in a fragile tin-shade house after their previous home was destroyed by river erosion. Her father works as an agricultural day laborer earning only around 5,000 BDT per month, which is barely enough to provide food for the six family members, making medical treatment impossible to afford. Zim is a sweet and innocent child whose playful smile brings happiness to the family, but her sudden fever, breathing difficulty, weakness, and convulsions left everyone terrified. Doctors later diagnosed her with typhoid fever, and her parents became deeply worried as her condition rapidly worsened. The family learned about Helpster through a staff member of Life Care Hospital, as without urgent treatment, the infection and convulsions could lead to severe complications, organ damage, or even become life-threatening for the child.

Zim Akter was admitted to the hospital on 12 April 2026 after suffering from fever, cough, breathing problems, and convulsions for two days. After a thorough medical examination and necessary tests, doctors diagnosed her with Typhoid fever. She received proper medical treatment, including medications, supportive care, and close monitoring from the hospital’s medical team. With timely treatment and continuous care, Zim’s condition gradually improved over the following days. Her fever reduced, breathing became stable, and her overall health started to recover. She responded well to the treatment and regained strength gradually. Zim was discharged from the hospital on 17 April 2026 in stable condition. Her family expresses their heartfelt gratitude to Help Star, its volunteers, and the hospital staff for their kind support and compassionate care, which played a vital role in her recovery.

With timely administration of parenteral antibiotics and supportive therapy, Zim’s infection can be effectively controlled, leading to a gradual reduction in fever and improvement in her overall condition. Proper treatment will help restore her strength, improve appetite, and relieve her breathing difficulties and other symptoms. With close monitoring and care, the chances of full recovery are very high. However, if left untreated, Typhoid fever can worsen, leading to severe dehydration, prolonged illness, and serious complications such as intestinal damage or infection spreading throughout the body. In severe cases, it can become life-threatening, especially for a young child like Zim.
