Background
Jane is a 6-year-old girl who enjoys singing and dancing. She wants to be a teacher when she's older. Recently, she was taken to a health clinic because she's been coughing, feeling very weak, and throwing up whenever she eats or drinks something.
Medical history
Jane was diagnosed with severe malaria and was promptly treated with a comprehensive regimen. She received Benzylpenicillin every six hours for three days, IV Plasil to address nausea, Artesunate at specific intervals, and AL 12s tablets every 12 hours for three days, alongside PCM tablets every 8 hours for fever management. Jane responded positively to the prescribed medications.
Treatment & Outcomes
Malaria should be treated promptly with the use of antimalarial drugs. If left untreated, it can lead to severe complications and even death. It can result in organ failure, severe anemia, neurological issues, and in some cases, prove fatal, making early diagnosis and treatment crucial for preventing these life-threatening consequences.
