Md. Atikh Hasan, an 8-year-old student, lives with his parents and two siblings in a poor household where his father earns only 6,000 BDT per month as a day laborer, making it difficult to meet daily needs and impossible to afford medical care. He is a polite and well-behaved child who is dedicated to his studies despite the family’s struggles. After a serious injury to his right middle finger, his condition has worsened with pain, reduced movement, and discoloration, now diagnosed as a fingertip injury with exposed bone. His parents are deeply concerned but cannot bear the treatment cost due to financial hardship. They learned about Helpster Charity through community outreach and sought help, as without timely treatment, the injury may lead to infection, permanent damage, or loss of finger function.

Md. Atikh Hasan was admitted to Al-Aqsa Hospital & Diagnostic Centre on 19/04/2026 with a severe injury to the fingertip of his right middle finger. Examination revealed a fingertip injury with exposed bone. As advised by the treating doctors, he underwent a two-stage surgical procedure: Cross-Finger Flap, followed by Flap Division. Atikh remained hospitalized for a total of 10 days for both stages of treatment. With regular medication, dressing, and wound care, the surgical site showed satisfactory improvement, and he was discharged as advised by the treating doctors. Atikh and his family formally acknowledge the medical care and assistance provided through Helpster Charity and Al-Aqsa Hospital & Diagnostic Centre. They also acknowledge the coordination and support provided by volunteers Mr. Anowar Hossain Anu and Mr. Meghlal Roy during the treatment process. The family remains hopeful that Atikh will continue to recover and return to his regular studies.

With timely two-stage surgery, including a cross finger flap followed by flap division after 21 days, Md. Atikh Hasan has a good chance of proper healing of his injured finger. This procedure will help cover the exposed bone, restore blood supply, reduce pain, and gradually improve finger movement and function. With proper post-operative care and follow-up, he can regain useful function of his finger and return to normal daily activities. However, if left untreated, the exposed bone may lead to severe infection, tissue death, and permanent damage to the finger. This could result in loss of finger function or even amputation. Such complications may affect his ability to write, study, and perform daily tasks. Therefore, timely surgical intervention is essential for his recovery and future well-being.
