Liam is a one-year-old boy brought to the facility by his mother for medical care. He lives with his mother and two siblings in a city slum, where the family faces significant financial challenges. Despite these difficulties, his mother hopes he will one day become an engineer. Liam is an active child who enjoys playing with others. He developed respiratory symptoms about two weeks ago and was initially treated at another facility. However, his condition did not improve after completing the prescribed medication, leading to a return visit and subsequent referral to Mama Lucy Kibaki Hospital for admission. While concerned about the cost, the family was informed about Helpster Charity and advised to come to our hospital. On presentation, Liam had signs of respiratory distress, including chest indrawing, fast breathing, grunting, and nasal flaring. He also had intermittent fever managed with paracetamol and had poor feeding over the past few days. Was diagnosed with very severe pneumonia and anaemia

Baby Liam was brought on 10th April due to difficulty in breathing,fever,coughing,chest congestion,irritability, decreased feeding and poor appetite. He was diagnosed with severe pneumonia and was put on suplementary oxygen 0.5 litres Iv Amikacin 126mg once daily ,Iv Ceftazidine 420mg thrice daily Iv Hydrocortisone 50mg once daily,Nebulization with Salbutamol in Ns, Rupative syr 5mls od He was admitted for 9days and discharged home in a stable condition.

Liam presents with very severe pneumonia alongside iron deficiency anaemia, both contributing to his current condition of respiratory distress, poor feeding, and weakness. He has been admitted for urgent management, including oxygen support, antibiotics, nutritional support, and correction of anaemia. At the time of assessment, he is stable but requires close monitoring due to the severity of his illness. With timely and appropriate treatment, Liam has a fair to good prognosis. Improvement is expected as the infection resolves and his haemoglobin levels are corrected, though careful follow-up is necessary to prevent complications and support full recovery.
