Why is treatment done earlier than admission?

Sometimes, when a case is urgent and vital, hospitals may proceed with delivering medical care right away to save a life, even before the finalization of admission procedures. Usually, when this happens, hospitals put the bill on our credit until the funds are transferred to their accounts.
That's why the chronology can sometimes be in disorder.

Background

Arisha Islam, a one-month-old twin baby, lives with her parents, twin brother, elder sister, and grandparents in a low-income rural household where her father earns only 8,000 BDT per month as a farmer, making it difficult to meet basic needs and impossible to afford medical treatment. Despite these hardships, Arisha is a calm and gentle baby who brings hope and comfort to her family. She and her twin brother have been diagnosed with a serious eye condition (ROP) that requires urgent treatment to protect their vision. Her parents are deeply worried but cannot bear the cost due to financial limitations. They learned about Helpster Charity through a counselor and volunteer and sought help, as without timely treatment, Arisha may suffer permanent vision loss or blindness, affecting her future life.

Medical history

Arisha Islam, a 1-month-old baby girl (Twin baby), was admitted for urgent management of Retinopathy of Prematurity (ROP) in both eyes, a condition that can lead to permanent vision loss if left untreated. After thorough evaluation, she received Anti-VEGF injection on 23.04.2026, administered by Dr. Md. Saiful Islam, the hospital’s ROP Specialist. The treatment process was carefully planned and executed, with close monitoring to ensure safety and effectiveness. During her stay, her response to the treatment was positive, showing encouraging signs of recovery. The abnormal growth of retinal blood vessels has now been successfully controlled. Her retinal condition has improved significantly, and doctors are hopeful that she will develop clear vision in the future. She was discharged in stable condition with advice for regular follow-up, and heartfelt thanks go to Helpster Charity and Helpster Heroes for making this life-changing treatment possible.

Prognosis

According to Dr. Md. Anwar Hossain Sheikh and Dr. Md Saiful Islam, Arisha urgently requires Avastin injections in both eyes. The doctors explain that early treatment can successfully stop abnormal blood vessel growth and significantly improve the chances of preserving functional eyesight. With timely intervention, Arisha has a strong possibility of developing useful vision and living a normal life. However, if treatment is delayed, the retinal damage may become irreversible, leading to severe visual impairment or complete blindness. This would permanently affect her development and place additional burden on her already struggling family. Immediate support is critical to begin treatment within the narrow window of opportunity.
