Salauddin Nirab is a 10-year-old boy who dreams of continuing his education and building a better future for his family. He lives with his parents, elder sister, and grandmother in a small tin-made house, where his father works as an auto-rickshaw driver and earns only around BDT 8,000 per month, barely enough to cover food, education, and daily household expenses. Despite their financial hardship, Nirab remains a polite, hardworking, and caring child, but his worsening vision has made studying and daily activities increasingly difficult. The family cannot afford the cost of specialized eye treatment, as they are already struggling to support Nirab’s sister’s education and care for his elderly grandmother. Without timely treatment, the developmental cataract in his right eye may lead to permanent vision loss, severely affecting his education, confidence, and future opportunities. The family learned about Helpster Charity through Nasima Akhter, Counselor of the Pediatric Unit at Mazharul Haque BNSB Eye Hospital, and Helpster Volunteer Md. Al Amin.

Salauddin Nirab, a 10-year-old boy, required urgent cataract surgery in the Right eye as the condition was significantly affecting vision development at this early age. The surgery was performed under general anesthesia on 18.04.2026 at Right eye by Dr. Md. Anwar Hossain Sk, Chief Consultant of the Hospital, ensuring the child’s comfort and safety throughout the procedure. The treatment progressed smoothly, with the medical team carefully monitoring him during and after surgery. As healing began, he showed steady improvement, responding well to the treatment plan. The cataract removal successfully restored clarity, and visual acuity improved remarkably. Now he feels much more comfortable and can see clearly, which will greatly support healthy visual growth. This positive outcome has brought immense relief and joy to the family. According to Dr. Md. Anwar Hossain, Chief Consultant at the hospital, Nirab requires urgent Cataract Surgery under General Anesthesia with implantation of a Secondary Intraocular Lens to restore vision in his right eye. The doctor has explained that with proper and timely surgery, Nirab has a very good chance of regaining his eyesight and living a normal life. However, if the surgery is delayed or not performed, Nirab may suffer permanent vision loss, limiting his education and opportunities for the rest of his life. The total cost of the surgery and follow-up treatment is approximately BDT 40,500, which is completely beyond the financial capacity of Nirab’s family. With only one earning member and a low monthly income, they are unable to arrange this amount.
