Maya is a 12-month-old baby who lives with her parents and three older siblings in a modest bamboo-and-tin house in a hilly area of Bangladesh. Her father is the sole earning member of the family, working as a daily laborer with an irregular income that is barely enough to provide food and other basic necessities, making medical treatment unaffordable. Maya has been suffering from severe pneumonia with breathing difficulties, high fever, and low oxygen levels, leaving her weak, irritable, and unable to feed properly. Her parents are deeply worried as there is no nearby government healthcare facility capable of providing the care she urgently needs. Without timely treatment, her breathing problems could worsen rapidly, leading to severe complications and putting her life at serious risk. The family learned about Helpster Charity through Helpster Volunteer Abu Sayeed.

Maya, a 12-month-old infant, was admitted on 25.04.2026 to Orion Hospital with complaints of severe cough with difficulty breathing, high-grade fever for seven days, along with reduced feeding and irritability. The patient was admitted through Helpster volunteer Abu Sayeed at Orion Hospital, Cox’s Bazar, Bangladesh. On admission, detailed clinical evaluation and necessary investigations were conducted. The patient was diagnosed with Severe Community-Acquired Pneumonia (CAP) with hypoxemia. She was managed with hospitalization under close monitoring, including oxygen therapy for hypoxemia, appropriate pharmacological treatment, correction of fluids and electrolytes, and adequate nutritional support to ensure recovery. The patient remained hospitalized for a total of Eight days (08) and was discharged on 03.05.2026 in stable condition with proper medical advice and follow-up instructions. The treatment expenses were fully supported by Helpster Charity, and the family expresses sincere gratitude to Helpster, its volunteers, and the hospital team for their kind support and care.

Doctors have have advised immediate hospital-based treatment including oxygen support, antibiotics, fever control, and close monitoring to stabilize his condition. With timely and proper medical care, there is a strong chance of recovery, and he can gradually return to normal health as the infection clears and breathing improves. However, if left untreated, the infection may rapidly worsen, leading to severe breathing failure, spread of infection in the body, and life-threatening complications, which may even result in death.
