Why is treatment done earlier than admission?

Sometimes, when a case is urgent and vital, hospitals may proceed with delivering medical care right away to save a life, even before the finalization of admission procedures. Usually, when this happens, hospitals put the bill on our credit until the funds are transferred to their accounts.
That's why the chronology can sometimes be in disorder.

Background

Abdullah Al Rayhan is a 5-year-old boy who lives with his parents and elderly grandfather in a small tin-made house in rural Noakhali. His father works as an Assistant Moulovi at a local madrasha and earns only around BDT 10,000 per month, which is barely enough to provide food and meet the family's basic needs, making the cost of eye surgery impossible to afford. Despite his visual difficulties, Abdullah is a gentle, intelligent, and cheerful child who enjoys listening to stories and dreams of attending school and living an independent life. As his vision continues to worsen, he struggles to recognize people, move around safely, and participate in normal childhood activities, causing great concern for his family. Without timely treatment, the congenital cataracts in both eyes may lead to permanent blindness, severely affecting his education, independence, and future opportunities. The family learned about Helpster Charity through Nasima Akhter, Counselor of the Pediatric Unit at Mazharul Haque BNSB Eye Hospital, and Helpster Volunteer Md. Al Amin.

Medical history

Abdullah Al Rayhan, a 5-year-old boy, required urgent cataract surgery in the both eyes as the condition was significantly affecting vision development at this early age. The surgery was performed under general anesthesia on 09.05.2026 at Left eye by Dr. Md. Anwar Hossain Sk, Chief Consultant of the Hospital, ensuring the child’s comfort and safety throughout the procedure. The treatment progressed smoothly, with the medical team carefully monitoring him during and after surgery. As healing began, she showed steady improvement, responding well to the treatment plan. The cataract removal successfully restored clarity, and visual acuity improved remarkably. Now he feels much more comfortable and can see clearly, which will greatly support healthy visual growth. This positive outcome has brought immense relief and joy to the family. Special thanks go to Helpster Charity and Helpster Heroes for their generous support in helping the child regain vision in the operated eyes.

Prognosis

According to Dr. Md. Anwar Hossain, Chief Consultant of Mazharul Haque BNSB Eye Hospital, Chandpur, Abdullah urgently requires bilateral cataract surgery under general anesthesia along with intraocular lens implantation to restore useful vision in both eyes. The doctor explained that because Abdullah is still very young, timely surgery can significantly improve his visual outcome and overall quality of life. With successful surgery and proper follow-up treatment, Abdullah will have the opportunity to attend school, play independently, recognize faces clearly, and enjoy a normal childhood. The doctors are hopeful that early intervention can change his future completely and prevent irreversible blindness.
