Baby Moses Muthomi is a 4-day-old male neonate and the third-born child in a family of three. He was delivered at our facility via emergency Caesarean section on 24/04/2026 due to Grade III meconium-stained liquor and non-reassuring fetal status, with a birth weight of 2,560 grams. The family lives in an informal settlement within the city and faces significant financial challenges. His mother struggles to provide basic necessities for the family. She learned about Helpster Charity through a facility poster and was subsequently assessed by a Helpster volunteer, who confirmed that the family met the criteria for assistance. At birth, Baby Moses had low Apgar scores of 6, 7, and 9, requiring immediate resuscitation. Since delivery, he has experienced severe respiratory distress characterized by difficulty breathing and rapid breathing. His oxygen levels were low (SpO₂ 88%), necessitating support with CPAP, a machine that gently pushes air into the lungs through soft nasal prongs to help keep the airways open and improve breathing. He is currently on oxygen therapy at 1 litre per minute and remains under treatment for meconium aspiration syndrome, neonatal respiratory distress, and birth asphyxia.

Baby Moses is a critically ill neonate requiring close monitoring and specialized neonatal care. He is being managed for meconium aspiration syndrome, neonatal respiratory distress, and birth asphyxia following a complicated delivery. Although he has shown some improvement with CPAP and oxygen therapy, he remains dependent on respiratory support and is still at risk of serious complications, including severe infection, persistent breathing difficulties, and neurological injury. The prognosis is guarded and ranges from moderately fair to poor, depending on his response to treatment and the occurrence of any complications. Continued intensive medical care is essential to improve his chances of recovery.
