Rabi Adamu is a 14-year-old girl diagnosed with severe malaria with sepsis focus tooth. She is the second child in a family of six. She has a strong interest in education, but her family’s financial situation has prevented her from attending school. Her father, Adamu, is a laborer who earns about 10,000 monthly, while her mother is a housewife with no source of income. The family lives in a mud house in Dadin Kowa, Lawan Fannami Ward, Gashu'a. The child developed a high fever which progressed to convulsions and was also associated with a painful infected tooth. Upon presentation at our facility, she was evaluated and was diagnosed with Severe Malaria and Sepsis. After receiving treatment, her condition has stabilized and is improving, with no further seizures.

The patient was given emergency care upon arrival. Her fever was controlled with paracetamol and tepid sponging, while the convulsions were stopped using phenobarbitone. She was subsequently started on appropriate medications to treat severe malaria and sepsis, including antimalarial drugs and antibiotics. The infected tooth, identified as the source of the sepsis, will also require proper dental treatment to completely eliminate the infection. Outcome Following prompt treatment, the patient’s condition stabilized and gradually improved, with a reduction in fever and no further seizures. With continued care and close monitoring, the overall outcome is favorable, provided all infections are fully treated.
