Mim Akter is a gentle and cheerful 6-year-old girl from Geneva Camp, Dhaka, who loves to play and spend time with her family, but her painful illness has made it difficult for her to move normally. She had been suffering from swelling on her lower back, continuous pain, fever, and weight loss for the past month, and doctors found that the infection had returned because she could not complete her previous treatment. Her father earns only a small and irregular income through daily work, while her mother takes care of the household, making it impossible for the family to afford her long-term treatment and medicines. The family came to know about Helpster Charity through a medical outreach camp organized by Helpster Charity in Geneva Camp, Dhaka, Bangladesh. Doctors have warned that if Mim does not receive proper treatment on time, the infection may return again, become more serious, and badly affect her future health and normal life.

Following her admission to Al-Manar Hospital on May 4, 2026, at 06:08 PM, Helpster's vital financial support covered the costs of Mim Akter’s urgent medical treatment and surgical intervention. She spent five days in the hospital, during which she successfully underwent an incision and drainage procedure under general anesthesia on May 5, 2026, to clear her painful, recurring tubercular back abscess. She was safely discharged in stable condition on May 9, 2026, with an effective outcome, and she is currently recovering comfortably at home with prescribed take-home medications. While the surgical site is healing well with daily dressings, her long-term recovery depends entirely on starting her mandatory anti-tuberculosis drug regimen to permanently defeat the illness.

According to the doctors, Mim Akter urgently needs proper treatment, including surgery to remove the infection and a full course of anti-TB medicines, to recover completely from her recurrent tubercular abscess. With timely treatment and regular follow-up care, the swelling and pain are expected to improve gradually, allowing her to return to a healthier and more normal childhood. Doctors have advised that completing the full treatment is very important to stop the infection from returning again. However, if she remains untreated or cannot continue her medicines properly, the infection may spread deeper into her body, cause severe pain and weakness, damage surrounding tissues, and seriously threaten her overall health and future well-being.
