Komol Akter is a gentle and hardworking 15-year-old girl who dreams of living a healthy life and supporting her family in the future. She lives with her parents, sister Mahinur Akter, and grandmother Hasmat Ara in a cramped shelter where her father, Md. Amran Hossain, struggles to support the entire family with a small salon income of only 9,000 BDT per month, making it impossible to manage costly spinal treatment and surgery. Over the past month, Komol developed severe back swelling, high fever, weakness in both legs, and difficulty walking, leaving her mostly dependent on her family for daily movement and care. After learning about Helpster Charity through a medical outreach camp, her worried family brought her for urgent treatment and evaluation. Without proper surgery and medical care, the spinal infection may worsen further, causing permanent paralysis, severe complications, and life-threatening health conditions.

Following her admission to Al-Manar Hospital on May 4, 2026, at 8:20 PM, Kamol completed a 15-day inpatient stay where she received vital conservative medical management and began a strict daily anti-TB medication regimen. She was discharged in stable condition on May 19, 2026, with instructions to strictly maintain her take-home therapy to control the infection under the safety of Helpster's network pathways. To complete her physical recovery, her consultant has advised her to return 14 days post-discharge to formally schedule and undergo the mandatory Long Segment Fixation surgery needed to stabilize her spine and fully restore her lower limb mobility.

According to the doctors, Kamol Akter initially required supportive treatment, close monitoring, and medical evaluation to stabilize her condition, but due to the severity of the spinal infection she now urgently requires major Long Segment Fixation surgery along with long-term Anti-TB therapy. With proper surgery and treatment, the infection may gradually come under control, her spine can become more stable, and her weakness and movement may improve over time, helping her return to a more normal life. Continuous treatment is also important to prevent further damage to her spinal cord and lower limbs. Without proper surgery and Anti-TB treatment, the infection may spread further, causing permanent paralysis, severe spinal deformity, serious infection, and life-threatening complications.
