Sanjida Akter is a 20-year-old mother who lives in a small tin-roofed room in Geneva Market Camp with her husband, Md. Ashik, their young child, her 11-year-old brother-in-law, and her elderly parents-in-law. With her husband earning only around BDT 9,500 per month as a day laborer. After suffering from weight gain and voice changes for nearly two years, Sanjida suddenly developed severe breathing difficulty, wheezing, and chest tightness, leaving her weak and unable to care for her child properly. Without urgent treatment, her breathing problems could become life-threatening, placing her at risk of severe respiratory distress and leaving her family without the care and support of a devoted mother and wife.

The patient was admitted to the hospital on 05-05-2026 with severe breathing difficulty, wheezing, chest tightness, diarrhea, and symptoms of hypothyroidism. During her hospital stay, she received oxygen therapy, nebulization, corticosteroids, intravenous fluids, and other necessary medications, including treatment for hypothyroidism. Her condition gradually improved, and she was discharged in stable condition on 08-05-2026 with medicines and follow-up advice. The patient and her family expressed their heartfelt gratitude to Helpster, its dedicated volunteers, and the hospital team for their timely financial assistance, compassionate care, and continuous support throughout her treatment. They shared that this support played a vital role in helping her recover and return home safely.

According to the treating doctors, Sanjida's condition is expected to improve significantly with hospitalization and conservative treatment, including breathing support, medicines to open her airways, fluid replacement, and treatment for her thyroid condition. The treatment will help relieve her breathing difficulty, control wheezing and chest tightness, restore lost fluids from diarrhea, and gradually improve her strength and overall health. As she recovers, she should be able to resume her normal daily activities and care for her young child and family. However, if left untreated, her asthma attack could become severe, leading to respiratory failure and a life-threatening emergency. Continued diarrhea could also cause severe dehydration, while untreated hypothyroidism may further worsen her weakness and overall health
