Afroja Akter is a gentle and hardworking 11-year-old girl from Geneva Bihari Camp, Dhaka, who dreams of continuing her studies and living a healthy childhood with her younger brother Ali Newaz. She lives with her parents, grandparents Md. Kamal Sadi and Rokeya Jasnam, and her brother in a small overcrowded shelter where her father struggles to support the entire family by cooking rice at a local bar and earning only around 9,000 BDT per month, leaving no savings for costly medical treatment. Afroja’s repeated throat pain, painful swallowing, nasal blockage, and frequent nose bleeding have made it difficult for her to eat, sleep, study, and enjoy normal childhood activities, causing constant worry for her family members. The family came to know about Helpster Charity through a medical outreach camp organized by Helpster Charity in Geneva Camp, Dhaka, Bangladesh. Doctors have warned that without proper treatment, her condition may worsen further, causing severe breathing difficulties, repeated infections, heavy nasal bleeding, weakness, and potentially life-threatening complications

The patient Afroja Akter, aged 11 years, was admitted to Al-Manar Hospital Ltd. on 06/05/2026 at 5:21 PM with the diagnosis of adenotonsillitis with bilateral HIT and epistaxis. She underwent adenotonsillectomy on 07/05/2026 under the care of Dr. Md. Ibrahim Khalil Ullah. After the operation, her condition improved, and she was kept under hospital care for about two days. Afroja was discharged on 08/05/2026 with prescribed medicines and follow-up advice for continued recovery. Afroja and her guardian expressed sincere gratitude to Helpster Charity for supporting her treatment during a very difficult time.

According to the doctors, Afroja Akter urgently needs adenotonsillectomy with turbinoplasty and cauterisation of the bleeding vessels to control her repeated throat infections, improve her breathing, and stop the recurrent nose bleeding. With proper treatment and close medical care, her painful swallowing, nasal blockage, breathing difficulty, and bleeding episodes are expected to improve gradually, helping her return to normal studies and daily activities. Doctors believe the treatment will greatly improve her overall health, sleep, and quality of life. However, if she remains untreated, the infection and swelling may worsen further, causing severe breathing problems, repeated heavy bleeding, weakness, poor nutrition, and potentially life-threatening complications.
