Ayan Hossain is a 1-month-old baby boy who lives with his parents, elder brother, and elderly grandmother in a small rural home. His father is the family's only earning member, working as a farmer on other people's land and earning around BDT 7,000 per month, which is barely enough to provide food and meet basic household needs, making specialized medical treatment unaffordable. Despite his difficult start to life as a premature baby, Ayan remains the center of his family's hopes and dreams for a brighter future. After surviving serious complications at birth, he was diagnosed with Retinopathy of Prematurity (ROP) in both eyes, a condition that threatens his vision and requires urgent treatment. Without timely anti-VEGF therapy and regular follow-up care, the disease may progress and cause retinal damage, permanent vision loss, or blindness, severely affecting his development and future quality of life. After thorough evaluation, he received Anti-VEGF injection on 23.04.2026, administered by Dr. Md. Saiful Islam, the hospital’s ROP Specialist. The treatment process was carefully planned and executed, with close monitoring to ensure safety and effectiveness. During his stay, his response to the treatment was positive, showing encouraging signs of recovery. The abnormal growth of retinal blood vessels has now been successfully controlled. His retinal condition has improved significantly, and doctors are hopeful that he will develop clear vision in the future. He was discharged in stable condition with advice for regular follow-up, and heartfelt thanks go to Helpster Charity and Helpster Heroes for making this life-changing treatment possible.

According to Dr. Md. Anwar Hossain Sheikh and Dr. Md Saiful Islam, Ayan urgently requires Avastin injections in both eyes. The doctors explain that if treatment is given within the proper timeframe, it can stop the abnormal blood vessel growth and significantly improve the chances of preserving his vision. With successful treatment and follow-up care, Ayan may develop useful eyesight and live a healthy and independent life. However, if treatment is delayed or unavailable, the retinal damage may become permanent, resulting in blindness and lifelong disability. This would create a devastating emotional and financial burden on the family.
