Why is treatment done earlier than admission?

Sometimes, when a case is urgent and vital, hospitals may proceed with delivering medical care right away to save a life, even before the finalization of admission procedures. Usually, when this happens, hospitals put the bill on our credit until the funds are transferred to their accounts.
That's why the chronology can sometimes be in disorder.

Background

Yasin Hossain is a 7-year-old boy who dreams of studying, playing with friends, and living an independent life despite the hardships he faces. He lives with his divorced mother and elder brother in a small tent house, where his mother works as a housemaid and earns only around BDT 5,000 per month, barely enough to provide food, shelter, and education for her two sons. Yasin is a cheerful and determined child, but the cataract in his right eye continues to limit his ability to study, move confidently, and enjoy a normal childhood. His mother is unable to afford the cost of surgery while struggling to support the family alone after being abandoned by her husband. Without timely treatment, Yasin may permanently lose vision in his right eye, severely affecting his education, independence, and future opportunities. The family learned about Helpster Charity through Nasima Akhter, Counselor of the Pediatric Unit at Mazharul Haque BNSB Eye Hospital, and Helpster Volunteer Md. Al Amin.

Medical history

Yasin Hossain, a 7-year-old boy, required urgent cataract surgery in the Left eye as the condition was significantly affecting vision development at this early age. The surgery was performed under general anesthesia on 25.04.2026 at Left eye by Dr. Md. Anwar Hossain Sk, Chief Consultant of the Hospital, ensuring the child’s comfort and safety throughout the procedure. The treatment progressed smoothly, with the medical team carefully monitoring him during and after surgery. As healing began, he showed steady improvement, responding well to the treatment plan. The cataract removal successfully restored clarity, and visual acuity improved remarkably. Now he feels much more comfortable and can see clearly, which will greatly support healthy visual growth. This positive outcome has brought immense relief and joy to the family. Special thanks go to Helpster Charity and Helpster Heroes for their generous support in helping the child regain vision in the operated eyes.

Prognosis

According to Dr. Md. Anwar Hossain, Chief Consultant of Mazharul Haque BNSB Eye Hospital, Chandpur, timely cataract surgery can significantly improve Yasin’s vision and help him return to normal educational and social activities. The doctor explained that childhood cataract treatment is highly time-sensitive because delayed intervention can permanently damage visual development. With successful surgery and proper follow-up care, Yasin will have the opportunity to continue his madrasha education, move independently, and live a healthier and more confident life. However, if the surgery is delayed further, his right eye may suffer irreversible blindness, severely affecting his future and quality of life.
