Why is treatment done earlier than admission?

Sometimes, when a case is urgent and vital, hospitals may proceed with delivering medical care right away to save a life, even before the finalization of admission procedures. Usually, when this happens, hospitals put the bill on our credit until the funds are transferred to their accounts.
That's why the chronology can sometimes be in disorder.

Background

Rai Rani Das is a 5-year-old girl who lives with her parents, two brothers, and grandmother in a small tin-made house in a rural village of Chandpur. Her father works as a fisherman and earns only around BDT 6,000 per month, which is barely enough to provide food and basic necessities for the family, making the cost of eye surgery impossible to afford. Despite her vision problems, Rai Rani is a cheerful and gentle child who enjoys listening to stories and spending time with her family. As her eyesight has gradually worsened, she has become increasingly unable to recognize faces, move confidently, or participate in normal childhood activities. Without timely surgery, her congenital cataracts may lead to permanent vision loss, severely affecting her education, independence, and future opportunities. The family learned about Helpster Charity through Nasima Akhter, Counselor of the Pediatric Unit, and Helpster Volunteer Md. Al Amin.

Medical history

Rai Rani Das, a 6-year-old girl, required urgent cataract surgery in the both eyes as the condition was significantly affecting vision development at this early age. The surgery was performed under general anesthesia on 16.05.2026 at Right eye by Dr. Md. Anwar Hossain Sk, Chief Consultant of the Hospital, ensuring the child’s comfort and safety throughout the procedure. The treatment progressed smoothly, with the medical team carefully monitoring him during and after surgery. As healing began, she showed steady improvement, responding well to the treatment plan. The cataract removal successfully restored clarity, and visual acuity improved remarkably. Now she feels much more comfortable and can see clearly, which will greatly support healthy visual growth. This positive outcome has brought immense relief and joy to the family. Special thanks go to Helpster Charity and Helpster Heroes for their generous support in helping the child regain vision in the operated eyes.

Prognosis

According to Dr. Md. Anwar Hossain, Chief Consultant at Mazharul Haque BNSB Eye Hospital, Rai Rani urgently requires Cataract Surgery under General Anesthesia with implantation of Intraocular Lens (IOL) in both eyes, starting with the right eye followed by the left eye. The doctor believes that if surgery is performed in time along with proper follow-up care, Rai Rani has a very good chance of regaining useful vision and living a normal childhood. She may be able to attend school, recognize her loved ones clearly, and enjoy the colorful world around her like other children. However, if treatment is delayed, the damage to her visual system may become irreversible, permanently affecting her eyesight and future quality of life.
