Afrin Akter is a cheerful and polite 8-year-old girl who loves playing with her friends and dreams of going to school regularly so she can build a better future for her family. She lives with her parents and other family members in a small tin-made house where her father struggles to support the six-member family as the only earning person, working as a daily wage laborer and earning only around 6,000 BDT per month, leaving no savings for surgery or medical emergencies. Afrin’s painful swelling on the left side of her groin has gradually become worse over the last two years, making it difficult for her to run, play, and live comfortably like other children. The family came to know about Helpster Charity through Sadika Rahman and sought help because they cannot afford the urgent treatment and surgery she needs. Doctors have warned that without proper medical care, the hernia may become trapped or blocked, causing severe pain, dangerous complications, and potentially life-threatening conditions requiring emergency surgery.

The patient, Afrin Akter was admitted to City Clinic on 13th June 2026. A successful Herniotomy operation was performed the same day. The child progressed well and were discharged on 17th June 2026 with proper postnatal advice. The patient and her family expressed heartfelt gratitude to Helpster, the dedicated volunteers, and City Clinic for their kind support and care throughout the treatment.

Doctors have advised that Afrin Akter urgently needs a herniotomy with repair, a surgical procedure that can completely correct her inguinal hernia and save him from further complications. With timely surgery, the pain and swelling will disappear, allowing him to return to school, play freely with friends, and grow up healthy and strong. Doctors are optimistic that after the operation he will recover well and live a normal life without long-term problems. However, if the condition is left untreated, the hernia may become trapped and cut off blood supply to the intestine, leading to severe pain, infection, and internal damage. In such situations, the condition can quickly become life-threatening, making this surgery not only important but potentially life-saving for Afrin.
